The Triumph of Caesar





















This is one of the nine parts of the Triumph of Caesar and it is called Julius Caesar on his Chariot. The other parts are called The Trumpeters, The Triumphal Carts , The Trophy Bearers, The Vase Bearers, The Elephants , The Corselet Bearers, The Captives and The Musicians .

When I was in Rome on the Classics trip I read a fantastic book by Stephen Saylor, The Triumph of Caesar. The book used as its inspiration the painting by Mantegna, which is on permanent display at Hampton Court. This is just one part of that amazing piece of art.
